Trick or Treat เทศกาลน่ารักๆ ในคืนวันฮาโลวีน

ถึงแม้บ้านเราจะไม่ได้อินกับวันฮาโลวีนกันมากนัก แต่หลายคนก็คงเคยเห็นจากหนัง หรือซีรี่ย์ฝรั่งกันมาบ้างใช่ไหมล่ะ แอดมินก็แอบอยากอยู่ในบรรยากาศแบบนั้นบ้าง วันนี้เลยหาข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับ Trick or Treat มาฝากกันค่ะ เพราะวันที่ 31 ตุลาคมนี้ก็จะวันฮาโลวีนแล้ว เผื่อมีเด็กที่ไหนหลงมาเคาะประตูบ้านเราจะได้เล่นกับเค้าถูก อิอิ

Although Halloween is not celebrated in Thailand, many of you might already know this festival from some Western movies or TV series. Some probably wish to join the Halloween yourselves. Well, it sounds like a good idea to know more about Trick or Treat since Halloween Festival on October 31st is approaching. Then you know what to do in case you hear a knock on the door.

การฉลองวันฮาโลวีนนิยมจัดกันในสหรัฐอเมริกา ไอร์แลนด์ อังกฤษ และแคนาดา รวมถึงอีกหลายประเทศฝั่งยุโรป โดยจัดขึ้นเพื่อความสนุกสนาน จะมีการตกแต่งบ้านด้วยฟักทองและหุ่นฟาง ส่วนเด็กๆ ก็รอคอยที่จะได้แต่งตัวเป็นผีแล้วก็พากันไปเคาะประตูบ้านเพื่อเล่น Trick or Treat กันค่ะ

Usually, Halloween Festival is cheerfully celebrated in the United States, Ireland, England and Canada as well as in many European countries. Most houses are creatively decorated with pumpkins and straw puppets. Many children are waiting for this day to dress up in ghost costumes, travel from house to house, knock upon the doors and say “Trick or Treat?”

Trick or Treat คือกิจกรรมยามดึกที่เด็กๆจะแต่งตัวเป็นผีแบบต่างๆ ทั้งตลก น่ารัก หรือน่ากลัวเลยก็มีค่ะ จากนั้นก็รวมตัวกันไปเคาะประตูบ้านเพื่อถามว่า Trick or Treat ? ถ้าเจ้าของบ้านตอบว่า Treat นั่นก็คือยอมแพ้ แล้วก็ต้องเลี้ยงหรือให้ขนมหรือลูกกวาดกับเด็กๆ (ซึ่งแต่ละบ้านก็จะเตรียมไว้อยู่แล้วค่ะ) หรือถ้าตอบว่า Trick ก็ คือยอมให้เด็กๆ หลอก ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นการแกล้งกันเล็กน้อย แต่สุดท้ายก็ต้องยอม Treat แล้วก็ให้ลูกกวาดกับเด็กๆ ไปในที่สุดค่ะ

Trick or Treat is a night-time activity. The children in funny, cute or even spooky ghost costumes gather in a group and knock on the door asking “Trick or Treat”? If the homeowner gives up and says “Treat”, the treats or candies are handed to the children. (Traditionally, most houses already prepare some candies for the children.) What if the homeowner says “Trick”? The children will perform some little spooky, crazy or even funny trick to the homeowner but they will finally get some candies at the end.

ส่วนที่มาของเทศกาลฮาโลวีนก็คือวันที่ชนพื้นเมืองของไอร์แลนด์ที่ชื่อว่าชาวเคลต์ (Celt) เชื่อว่าเป็นวันเปิดมิติของคนตายและคนเป็น คนที่ตายไปในปีที่ผ่านมา จะเข้ามาหาร่างสิงเพื่อจะได้มีชีวิตต่อไป ตามความเชื่อนั้นทำให้บ้านทุกบ้านปิดไฟและแต่งกายให้ประหลาดที่สุด ปลอมตัวเป็นผีไม่ให้ผีตัวจริงเข้ามาสิงร่างของตนนั่นเอง

Halloween Festival originated from the Celtic festival of Samhain celebrated in Ireland. It is believed that on this day, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead are opened. The spirits of those who passed away a year ago will return on earth and try to take possession of the living’s body. According to that belief, all the houses turn off the light and dress in the most terrifying costumes to disguise themselves so the evil spirit couldn’t take control of them.

แต่ในปัจจุบัน ความเชื่อนี้ก็ได้กลายเป็นตำนาน แล้วก็กลายเป็นเทศกาลสนุกๆของเด็กๆ ไปแล้วค่ะ ลองมานึกดูว่าถ้าเป็นบ้านเราได้แต่งตัวเป็นผีกันบ้างนี่คงจะหลากหลายและครีเอทน่าดูเลยเนอะ

Nowadays, this belief has turned into the legend and the enjoyable festival celebrated among children. What if the festival is celebrated in Thailand, we might find a variety of ghosts in vibrant and creative costumes.
