History of Nutella The Smooth Deliciousness That Everyone Gives the Thumbs Up
Calling all chocolate and cocoa lovers! Many of you must have tasted the bittersweetness of Nutella, the combination of crushed hazelnut and cocoa. Apart from its distinct flavor, Nutella is also a perfect match for a variety of bread and baked delights. Another highlight is that it’s very easy to find. Let’s join us in exploring the interesting history of Nutella.
Nutella was invented during World War II when cocoa was in severely short supply in Italy. As a result, both chocolate and cocoa suddenly became rare goods, expensive and only the upper class could indulge in. From this situation, Pietro Ferrero, an Italian sweet merchant at the time and the founder of Ferrero Rocher at present, spotted the issue and felt greatly inspired to create the new formula to produce chocolate with less cocoa in order to reduce the production cost. That’s why crushed hazelnut, palm oil and sugar were added and well-combined to yield the flawlessly rich and smooth chacolatey flavor. Later in 1964, Nutella entered the UK market where the sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread had been widely and successfully relished with bread, pancakes and various baked delights. In the following year, Nutella entered the French market and received amazing feedback before expanding internationally and becoming globally-renowned until today.
